Forestry Mulching in Upstate SC

One machine, one pass, and the brush is gone. ORA's Kioti track loader runs a Baumalight forestry mulching head that grinds brush, saplings and small trees into mulch right where they stand.

Typical price: $800–$1,200 per acre, depending on vegetation density and grade. Free site visit, firm quote.

What forestry mulching is

A forestry mulcher is a spinning drum full of carbide teeth on the front of a track loader. It chews through brush, briars, saplings and small trees and spreads them back on the ground as a layer of mulch.

That's the whole job. No burn pile to babysit, no dump trailer, no second crew coming back to haul anything off. The mulch stays put as ground cover, which helps hold the soil and keeps erosion down while it breaks down.

Why landowners pick mulching

Old-school clearing usually means pushing everything into piles with a dozer, then burning it or hauling it. That scrapes up topsoil and leaves a mess for weeks.

Mulching leaves the topsoil where it is, with the roots mostly in place. You get open, usable ground with a mulch mat on top instead of bare dirt and a smoking pile.

What it costs

Most jobs run about $800–$1,200 per acre, depending on how thick the vegetation is and the grade (slope) of the property. A free site visit gets you a firm quote. See the pricing FAQ for what moves the number.

Quick Answers

What size trees can the mulcher handle?

Brush, saplings and small trees. The machine handles trees up to about 8 inches in diameter efficiently. If there's bigger timber on the property, Jason will tell you on the site walk what makes sense.

Do you remove stumps?

Stumps get mulched down to about ground level (to grade). It isn't stump grinding below grade, so if you need stumps gone below the surface for a lawn or a slab, bring it up on the site walk.
